Prof. Bayram ÖZTÜRK, PhD.
Born in 1960, he graduated from Beykoz Maritime and Fisheries Vocational High School and then entered the Biological Oceanography Department of the Faculty of Science at Ege University. He later completed his Master's and Doctorate degrees at Istanbul University and participated in research on fisheries, marine conservation, and oceanography in many countries around the world. In 1996, he founded the "Turkish Marine Research Foundation" with a group of marine enthusiasts. He is currently the editor of the foundation's journal and has published numerous books and research articles. Prof. Öztürk is currently a faculty member at Istanbul University.
Adnan Hepgül
He was born in Beykoz, Istanbul in 1958. He completed his primary and secondary education in Beykoz. He was among the first graduates of the Deck Department of the Maritime and Fisheries Vocational High School. Professionally, he was involved in trade, selling automobiles, marine equipment, and fish, and for a period, land and sea tourism. He participated in swimming and athletics, becoming a Turkish Champion and competing for the national team. He held various positions in TÜDAV, which he helped found.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur GÖNÜLAL / General Secretary
Born in Istanbul in 1977, she graduated from Istanbul University in 1998. She completed her master's and doctoral degrees in Marine Biology at the same university's Institute of Science. From 1999 to 2006, she worked as a facility manager at a fisheries company. In 2006, she began working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Marine Biology at Istanbul University's Faculty of Fisheries. She has been working as an Associate Professor since October 2018. Her research focuses on deep-sea marine life, and she is currently a faculty member at Istanbul University.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arda M. TONAY / Treasurer
Born in Istanbul in 1976, she graduated from Istanbul University in 1999 with a degree in Fisheries Engineering. She completed her master's and doctoral degrees in Marine Biology at the same university's Institute of Science in 2010. From 2001 to 2015, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Marine Biology at Istanbul University's Faculty of Fisheries. From December 2015 to April 2018, she served as an Assistant Professor in the same department, and since May 2018, she has been an Associate Professor. Her research focuses on marine mammals, and she is the Turkish representative of the European Society of Marine Mammals (ECMOBs) and the Black Sea expert for the ACCOBAMS Scientific Committee.
Prof. Dr. Ülgen AYTAN / Member
Born in Izmir in 1978, she graduated from Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) in 1999 with a degree in Fisheries Engineering. She completed her master's and doctoral degrees in 2012 at the same university's Institute of Science, Department of Fisheries Technology. Between 2008 and 2012, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Marine Biology, Faculty of Fisheries, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (RTEÜ). From December 2013 to April 2018, she served as an Assistant Professor in the same department, and from May 2018 to January 2024, as an Associate Professor. She has been working as a Professor since February 2024. Her area of ??expertise is Plankton Ecology, and since 2013, she has been working on marine debris and microplastics, their distribution, effects, and control methods.
