Our Climate Change Studies

Our foundation continues its work and measurements to monitor climate change in the seas, primarily by collecting data to create a marine climate database for climate purposes.

In addition, devices equipped with loggers (temperature measuring devices) are being placed, primarily in areas with seagrass meadows, to monitor sudden temperature changes and record them in real time.

Our foundation, in collaboration with the METU Institute of Marine Sciences, has also published a book following the Workshop on Climate Change and its Effects on Turkish Seas .

A separate study is being conducted specifically to monitor thermophilic (warm-loving) species in the Marmara Sea, and monitoring studies are continuing with the bleaching of the endemic, protected hard coral species Cladocora caespitosa . Within this scope, our foundation has produced films in three languages—Turkish, English, and French—to raise awareness about the conservation of this species, which you can watch on our YouTube channel.
We are also continuing our efforts to collect, understand, and standardize historical data on climate change in the seas since (1950).
