Trash in the Sea, Camera in Hand!
MARLISCO is launching a video competition in September 2013, open to young people from 14 European coastal countries.
Why and How?
The MARLISCO Video Competition encourages young people to engage with and reflect on the problem of marine litter in Europe, and gives them the opportunity to share their thoughts on the issue with a wider audience.
Young people, who are agents of change in society, are invited to create a short video, no longer than 2 minutes, to express their views on marine litter.
The competition aims to raise the level of active citizenship and critical thinking regarding a problem that affects and concerns us all.
For whom?
The target age range for participation in the competition is 12 to 18 years old, but this age range may vary from country to country. The invitation to participate can be accepted by a school, youth association, or club, either within or parallel to the curriculum. It can also be approached from many different disciplines or from multiple disciplines. Teams participating in the competition must be supported by a legal entity (e.g., a school or youth club). Please check the participation and support conditions for Turkey. We can only support a limited number of participants.
Where?
14 European countries with coastlines will participate in the MARLISCO Video Competition: Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Slovenia, Ireland, Romania, Germany, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and Denmark. General rules and conditions are common to all participating countries; however, the target age, jury, and prizes may vary at the national level. Therefore, the applicability of the 'Rules and Conditions' in your country should be considered. It should also be noted that the competition is held only at the national level, and participants compete only with participants from their own country.
When?
The video competition is scheduled to coincide with the start of the 2013-2014 academic year.
The deadline for submitting and delivering videos is between September 9, 2013 and February 14, 2014. The winning video will be announced at the end of March 2014.
And then?...
The video competition will serve as a reference point for young Europeans to see the problem and generate possible solutions. These young people, who will be powerful representatives of change in society, will influence large audiences with the messages they convey in their videos.
The most interesting videos will be broadcast on national and European media. A final film titled "European youth's voice on the marine litter problem" will be prepared from the best videos selected from all countries and will premiere at a major European event in May 2014.
