Organized jointly by TÜDAV and Sarıyer Municipality, the Istanbul Fisheries Congress was held in Rumeli Kavağı.
The Istanbul Fisheries Congress, organized jointly by our foundation and Sarıyer Municipality, was held on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at the Rumeli Kavağı-İskele Restaurant. The meeting discussed general issues of the aquaculture sector such as pollution, overfishing, and control; problems of cooperatives and unions; fishing problems in the Istanbul Strait; problems related to the fish processing and fish production industry and aquaculture; problems with the European Union fisheries acquis and compliance; and the education and social security problems of fishermen. A concluding statement was drafted at the end of the meeting.
